WHO WE ARE

CEDEP, the catalyst for change

Created 50 years ago, CEDEP is a not-for-profit executive education club, providing a unique and safe space to reflect, explore, collaborate, (peer)learn, grow and act. We are a strong ecosystem of leaders, organisations and faculty that co-designs programs to address strategic needs.

We empower leaders, enabling them to shape their organisations for a more sustainable, profitable, socially responsible and positive impact. We nurture a thought-provoking experience that tackles real life challenges in a collaborative environment.

Based in France, but operating globally, we deliver programs from various international locations, in person or online via live sessions, or hybrid with a blend of both. We are at the forefront of identifying and responding to emerging global trends with innovative, highly relevant and action-based learning.

MISSION

To effectively navigate the complex, inter-connected and ever-changing business world, we need to challenge conventional perspectives. CEDEP’s raison d’être is to achieve this via transformational leadership development.

Our Community

We believe in collective intelligence to embrace new perspectives and shape sustainable solutions. That’s why we’ve created a diverse community of innovative minds with different interests and fresh ideas. Our members build on shared values to imagine tailor-made programs together.

Our Philosophy

We design our programs to put people at the centre. To bring out the best in leaders, we allow them to escape the daily grind and to take the time to put things into perspective. It’s a moment ‘apart’ to reflect on their journey, try new things, and nurture their minds

The Catalyst For Change

We enable leaders to build the future they envision for their organisations. We address the real challenges they might face by adopting a hands-on approach to leadership training. We dare to question established ideas and go off the beaten track to empower leaders to shake things up.

A Safe Environment

At CEDEP, we offer a unique space where international members from diverse and non-competing industries exchange best practices and fresh ideas. While each leader is competitive in their respective fields, our emphasis is on creating a collaborative space. We carefully chose our members to maintain a trusted environment where each leader can speak freely, and be heard fully.

Advisory Education Committee

Composed of our members’ HR and L&D experts, the Committee meets to provide opportunities to share and learn from each other’s corporate leadership development programs, review the relevance of the programs designed for the community and discuss potential new ones according to their emerging needs. It is also a place to share new, exciting and unconventional content and present new faculty and community experts. The Committee is also an exceptional platform for networking. Members engage with CEDEP, meet new members, exchange and experiment together.

The Content Lab brings together members from the CEDEP community to cover current and emerging themes concerning business today. It is a day of reflection and experience sharing in a free environment, a valued time to look at how we can develop the business of tomorrow.
A small intimate group of senior academics from top business schools, with years of business acumen and personal experience, prepare and lead the day. They challenge and innovate current pedagogical methods, and identify new content for debate and research as leading themes for the CEDEP community. Themes are summarised and then developed further to produce content for future CEDEP programs.A small intimate group of senior academics from top business schools, with years of business acumen and personal experience, prepare and lead the day. Design Day

The Design Day brings together L&D experts from our member companies together with our specially selected faculty and experts. It is CEDEP’s engine to collectively create value-adding leadership development programs and go beyond the off-the-shelf offering.

Within the close and trusting relationship of our community, members are invited to share their challenges and business context. Together, we combine different ways of learning (teaching, experience, shock, play around with different components) to address development needs and promote deeper learning. The exercise is enriched by member experience, cross-industry knowledge and CEDEP’s distinctive way for opening minds and doing things differently.

Participants leave the event inspired with new methodologies and new topics, and up to three designs almost ready for implementation. The Design Day acts as an energy booster.

Our story

Centre Européen d’Education Permanente (European Center for Executive Development)

Over 50 years ago, Guy Landon, L’Oréal’s head of HR had a vision to create an executive education club of like-minded executives who shared the same humanist philosophy. He was joined by Antoine Riboud and Jean-Leon Donnadieu (from BSN, which later merged with Gervais-Danone), Renaud Gillet (from Pricel and Rhone Progil, which became part of the Rhone-Poulenc group), Antoine Bekaert (from Bekaert) and René Dunant (from Sandoz). The result was CEDEP, Europe’s first corporate-founded membership institution dedicated to executive education.

The three main objectives of the founders were to:
– Expose managers to a mix of cultures and industry contexts

– Provide participants with a contrast between the theories and practice of management

– Create a force for change within their companies by establishing a critical amount of managers who share key educational experience.
CEDEP soon became a unique and forward-thinking learning community where executives could act as a catalyst for change, realise their full potential and awaken a desire to share their knowledge with others.

Salvatore Teresi, an INSEAD marketing professor who was also one of CEDEP’s founders, oversaw an expansion in membership to 23 companies that resulted in more than 6,000 participants attending CEDEP’s programs.

From 1971 to 1991

Claude Michaud, Teresi’s deputy director (and also an INSEAD professor) who extended its membership to 20 members, including companies from outside Europe, most notably Tata Steel. It was also under Michaud’s tenure that CEDEP started offering off-campus programs in Hong Kong, Singapore, and India.
• From 2007 to 2011: Han van Dissel extended CEDEP overseas activities, offering off-campus programs in China, Brazil, Canada and South Korea.

From 1991 to 2007

Han van Dissel extended CEDEP overseas activities, offering off-campus programs in China, Brazil, Canada and South Korea.

From 2007 to 2011

CEDEP directly employs 26 people in program design, support, and client relationship roles.
Leadership is provided by a Managing Director.
The current Director is Thomas Hinterseer. From 2016 Thomas has initiated the transformation of CEDEP via a major reorganisation of its overall governance, the sale of the campus , the acquisition of two companies and the creation of a dedicated Institute for Leadership and Safety, thus adding significant value to CEDEP and its stakeholder

French Government Certification QUALIOPI

French Government Certification QUALIOPI
CEDEP is a Qualiopi-certified French training organisation offering the possibility of financial support for French companies.
On the business side, the financing calls upon an OPCO (Opérateur de Compétences).
These organisations can collect the Contribution unique à la formation professionnelle et à l’alternance (which replaces the Contribution à la formation professionnelle and the Taxe d’apprentissage) from companies and redistribute it for the training of employees. The funding granted depends on the size of the company.
Requests for funding agreements from the OPCOs must be made prior to any training.
Customised programs may result in certified competence based on their content and objectives.
